GET IT DONE

Boost your career with LinkedIn

Time for a job change? Perhaps you just want to push for more in your current role or industry. Here’s how to make the most of LinkedIn and give your career a boost.

Make connections

LinkedIn gives you the courage to network by suggesting connections to you. In the My Network tab you will find suggested links based your career, education history and existing network. Why not check out how many degrees of separation there are between you and key people you might want to meet?

Noticed someone you think would make a great mentor? With a Premium subscription you can send an InMail message to people outside your network. You can also find out who has been browsing your profile.

Send messages to your connections and reach out to people you’d like to learn from.

Look for jobs

Not only can you search for roles that suit you in LinkedIn, the app will also suggest roles for which you would be a “top applicant”. See how many other people are in the running for a role and how you measure up against them, including whether or not you share top skills or qualifications with other applicants.

Take advantage of LinkedIn’s interview prep guide, available for Premium subscribers. It contains sample questions and answers, and practice sessions with instant feedback.

Job hunting? Search for a role – or let the app do it for you and scroll through its suggestions.

Stay up to date

In your Home tab you will see what people in your network are up to. Read articles they have liked, shared or published, comment on their posts and see what events they’re attending (and decide whether you want to go too).

Keeping on top of what your network is saying and the interests of your connections will provide you with more opportunities to stay in touch and develop relationships.

Promote yourself

Use your own feed to celebrate milestones, share any media attention you’ve recently received, canvas opinion from your network or promote jobs you’re hiring for.

Make your profile stand out by adding a 30-second Cover Story video to give followers, connections and potential recruiters a quick introduction to you and your work.

Switch on “creator mode” and post content on your areas of interest. Use LinkedIn Live to host live events on your profile, or build a subscriber base with the Newsletter function.
